Remember also the F-15 and F16 has never faced proper MiG-29As

Why ? Because of downgraded

(Export means older or downgraded versions)

MiG-29-12A (used by Yugoslavia)

Sapfir-29E PD radar with LDSD and ECCM and 6 target TWS

3× axis electromechanical autopilot

Older nav/attack system

Export FMC

Export HUD

Export radio

Export IRST with rear track only

Export IFF (No pulse doppler)

Export Beryoza RWR with reduced radar band coverage and database

EW Systems removed

Data link removed

R-73Es and R-27Es with inferior seekers

Reduced countermeasures

MiG-29-12B (used by iraq)

Sapfir-29EB variant PD radar with basic LDSD and little ECM resistance with 2 target TWS

3× axis electromechanical autopilot (Used by MiG-23ML)

Older nav/attack system (used by MiG-23ML)

Export radio (further downgraded)

Beryoza RWR (TI completely removed)

Older HUD

Older FMC (used on MiG-23ML)

No IFF

No HMD

No IRST

No data link

No EW

R-27RE Missiles

R-60MK Missiles

Further Reduced countermeasures

Inferior quality Airframe (slower speeds, worse turn rates and AOA)

They were 3+ at most. Examples of other high end 3+ Aircraft include MiG-29A-12/13B, Mirage F1EQ, F-4S and MiG-25PD

Let's see normal MiG-29A in 1980s

Rubin pulse doppler radar with TWS and full LDSD and ECCM and multi tracking and locking

OLS-29 IRST with slave abilities, front tracking and laser rangefinder

Beryoza RWR

Gardenyia-1 digital EW System

Ts-100 8x bit Digital FMC

3× axis computerised autopilot

ASP-ILS HUD

Shchel-3UM CRT HMD

Digital radio

Biryusa Digital data link

Parol digital pulse doppler IFF

Digital nav/attack system

Full chaff and flare loadout

R-27R/Ts and R-73s

You need to also remember that when USA faced Serbian 29-12As they were F-15C MSIP and F-16C so comparable to MiG-29S not 29A and certainly not 12As

So when you want to get real. US fighters are just laughably overrated whilst russian fighters are very underrated.

Even if you played devil's advocate and said the MiG-29-12A/Bs were 4th Gen it's still not equal as F-15C-MSIP II and F-16C used in gulf and yugo wars are seen as 4+ that utilised improved fully digital radars, better MFDs, more modern EW, better RWRs, Fox 3s etc, peer migs to these would be Soviet VVS MiG-29M or MiG-29KVP.

Even if you want to call them “4th gen” they are NOT comparable to soviet versions mostly because of

No Gardenyia-1 EW

No Shchel-3UM HMD

No proper OLS-29

No PrNK-29 Digital nav/attack system

No proper R-73s and R-27s

No Rubin proper pulse doppler radar with 10x target TWS, no IRST slave, no ECCM integration with L-203 and no multi track or lock

Myths about the Su-57

Truth about the Su-57 Felon Introduction   Okay I'm going to dispel the myth that the Su-57 isn't stealth or 5th gen. There are several parts.  Intro F-117 Incident  Stealth Technology  Top 24 Myths about Felon RCS Numbers  F22 & F35 Vs Su-57  Weaknesses of Stealth Aircraft  Conclusion  This is based on over 30 hours of research, as well as several different scattering simulations.  Sources are tied to each part instead of listed at end.  F-117 Incident The minimum RCS the SNR-125M fire control radar can lock on relative to the RCS minimum of F-117, which was 0.2m² minimum required for lock on at any distance and RCS minimum of 0.005m² means its average was likely several decimal points higher. Of Course we take into account this was old stealth technology and the fact it had cueing from P-18.  It was detected because the RCS whilst having a minimum of ~0.005m², based on the fact it's an older design and current radar sim...
