History of Russian Helmet Mounted Displays 



 We had the Gen 0 Schel-3 made in 1974 which was for use with Zsh-5 series of helmets for the MiG-23M, it used a basic optical cueing system. 



We had the Gen I Shchel-3UM made in 1979 for the Zsh-5 series of helmets, it utilised an eye piece cueing system fully stabilised and integrated into the aircrafts fire Control and target tracking. Currently used on Su-27S and MiG-29A and tested on Ka-50 and Mi-28A. 

We have the Gen I NSTs-T-04 made in early 2000s for ZSh-7AP series of helmets, it was basically just a refined Shchel-3UM with improved FOV. Currently used on Su-30SM, Su-27SM and MiG-29SMT. 



We have the Gen II NSTsI-V made in 2013 for use with ZSh-7ВS helmets for Mi-28N and Ka-52 pilots, it uses two Holographic eye pieces that overlay full mission displays and cueing system. Currently used on Mi-28N, Mi-24VM and Ka-52. 



We have the Gen II NSTsI-KOS made in 2012 for ZSh-7AP series of helmets, uses traditional cue hologram but with added mission displays projected onto visor. Currently used on Su-30SM2, Su-35S, MiG-29K and MiG-35. 


We have the Gen III NSTsI-50 made in 2018 for ZSh-10B series helmets with built in holographic LCD display with pupil tracker, integrated 4th Generation image intensifiers and video slave abilities. Currently used on Su-57s.

Myths about the Su-57

  Truth about the Su-57 Felon Introduction   Okay I'm going to dispel the myth that the Su-57 isn't stealth or 5th gen.
